I bought my son a 4.5 TSI and was going to have it powdercoated black along with proto forks and bars... Since I'm new and somewhat learning the scooter biz for my kids is there any concerns or things to do/not do... Just asking due to I don't see alot of painted/powdercoated TSI decks..Thanks

well im my opinion a powder coated deck looks bad, because once it gets some use it gets all scratched up, compaired to a raw tsi, looks fresh even after usage

well, take it apart first and dont paint the inside of the headtube cuz itll be a real bitch to put the headset in, and i wish my dad would buy me a tsi,

yeah, basically anything with paint will chip or scratch no matter how well its painted. so if i were you i would ask your son, tell him the pros and cons of painting, and jus go through with watever he wants to do.

A TSI is overkill but I already have a regular pro model and the 8 year old took the ultra pro. I would have bought another ultra pro but you can't find them...and I looked into buyying used but people want top dollar for used stuff so you might as well buy new....

because they don't come powdercoated. The paint scratches off. The main reason is: scooter decks aren't steel, so they don't rust. One of the main reasons for powdercoating something is to protect it from rust. Most steel will rust all by itself just by being touched by molecules in the air, no water needed. Therefore, you can get it powdercoated for protection purposes, instead of having to clear coat your bars/fork every 4 days.
