And they had anodized flights and thresholds before.

No, it's a texture powdercoat. It says so right in the description. Anodizing doesn't add texture, it's pretty much a translucent color over top of the raw metal, which makes it look metallic. My black Flight 20 that's a year old looks exactly the same, and so did my Heptrons. They've been doing this for ever.
