weird bars

just an idea i came up with today, they are compatible with a normal headset compression because of the open top on it. Just a starnut in your fork and a topcap with bolt should do the trick. But they will be pretty heavy since there are 2 tubes going up wich probably doubles the weight of something like weebars. But is this idea any good? and is there a way to make the bars lighter?

the crossbar probably wouldn't bend at all but they look very weird

That's pretty good looking man.
But I'm not so sure about it, I mean those would probably be really wide bars in your picture because those two bars are spread so far. If they were all made so that the gussets ended for just enough room for the average sized bike grip then that'd be cool, but I'm not sure if someone ordered like 15 wide that the concept would still be the same.

I own SR.
lol... I have drawings of those exact same bars from like 2 years ago. I called them the Super Vs and the team bars were just V bars. They are a cool concept and one day I might make a pair for the hell of it but the design isn't really very practical for production and freestyle.

yeah, but the compression system will be very simple and easy to get at your local bikeshop, and If you are gonna make one, just be shure you make the angle of the V a bit smaller, so the bars can be less wide. Caus I just did it with paint, and it looks like they are gonna be like 26 wide or something... But I would still like to ride something like this, just to try.

when i first saw them i first saw them i was thinking if he made some i would buy them but them i thought about and yehyeh i agree with scooterperu ur knees would hit when u do tucks but anyway that was an really nice try... :D

lol cool but how wud the compression system work? where would the starnut go?

but yh i really like the idea, its both indigenous and inventive, the SR symbol or any other logo would look sound in the gap part :D

it doesnt seem like it woule be too good.
u'd hav to ride pretty wide bars since the other bars spread out, and it would make tricks like tuck-no's hard as hell

You put the starnut in the forktube, and put the bolt thru a topcap of an mountainbike and screwed in the starnut. Thats why that flat spot is there on the bottom of the big V
