welding help (could really use madis or andrew right now!)

aight, so i'm making some one piece bars, but the guy that owns the welder says that he's rather make it in a jig.
so i'm left clueless about what its gonna look like, how much its gonna cost, what it's made out of, etc...
so i'd like to see some pictures of what a jig is, or how to make one.

and another thing is that when i weld in a corner (like angle iron) it gets all bubbly, and when i get closer, it gets a smooth weld, but it penetrates through the metal. So i turn down the heat one notch (take it into consideration that i'm using a MIG) and it goes bubbly again. I don't really want to mess with wire feed, so should i turn the gas down a notch? I don't know what units its in, but on the 2000 psi tank, the gauge on the left is set to 30 when i weld.

sorry if i make no sense, i'm a noob at welding.
but i do make some pretty clean welds!

yeah, but what does one look like? that's my question, along with do i need to turn down the heat or the gas?

I own SR.
A jig can be made out of anything and look like anything it just all depends on what you need it to do. The bubbles could be happening for a few different reasons none of which have anything to do with heat or wire feed. You are either low on gas, your material is dirt or by the sounds of it you are holding the gun at a terrible angle and blowing all the gass off the work piece at the edge.

migs or tigs work fine.
migs use a wire that is automaticly fed through where the gas comes out, and the wire(which is about $5 fir a really long roll) can be changed to steel or aluminum
tigs use expensive rods instead of a wire feed.

I'd rather have a mig, because if you're just playing around or learning new techniques, it will cost you a lot more with a tig

i think i'm getting my materials on thursday and making them on friday
and david-you have to get me that madd scooter or at least the brake in order to get these bars lol

thank you becuse someoen said there isnt a welder called a tig and i just gave me uncle 300$ bars to weld with a tig welder btw there done ha

okaaaay ill hook u up with that scooter while me and u are at lake side one day ill go run over and get it and bring it back just for those bars
