My neighbor is a welder, and he has welded the foldy of my pro model, and he did a great job at it. He is about to buy a second welder to get the job done faster, and he agreed to weld for my friends if they paid.

here's the prices:
dropouts..................$6-10 (depending on how bad they're cracked)
foldy base................$10
full foldy...................(we're not sure if the welds will be strong enough)
old a dropouts...........$7 (reinforcement welds)

and we're going to make 1pce bars sometime soon
they will be around $30-$50

so call me if you want it done.
call david m or ryan d if you need my number

Welders are good people to know if you are a scooterist huh? Apparently my dad had to learn to weld since he was an art major for pre-med. I'm debating welding several foldies.

dude, no way id pay for any of that haha, i could do it all for free myself in tech class next year. but if you make 1 pc. bars i may buy some, unless they're like 80 bucks.

ok i edited the prices a bit. his wire is expensive and he has to buy a new tip, so i'm giving all the procedes to him.

btw, metal needs to be raw in order to weld it, and we can raw for no extra charge.

I thought welding the foldy base fully made it weaker than the razor weld job.
no?more welds(me)=stronger
less welds(razor)=weaker
if you weld the whole thing, then it won't be able to flex and it will break faster. i think...

the no flex equals break fast thing makes sense, but only to a certain point. building are made with some flex but they arent falling out of the sky

It all depends how it is done. The actual welded part will be stronger to a certain extent but everything else in the heat affect zone will be weaker because heat changes the temper of different materials. So basically your folding mechansim will be stronger but your deck will be weaker so it's not really worth it unless you are gonna take the time to properly re-enforce everything and/or get it heat treated. Welding does make it a lot more solid and lighter too though I've welded a few decks.

Also, welding wire and tips for aluminum??? Is he using a MIG spool gun?? If so I really wouldn't trust that for scooter parts.
