welding the folding mech..

noone has really talked about it that much but i think about it often..what if you locked the folding mech and then welded the bolts in and welded the rest in..would that be stronger or longerlasting?

I got myself banned.
The bolts are fine in my opinion, just incase you have to make adjustments that include taking the headtube off...

I welded my pro-model's mech nicely, because it looked so weak with only welded in 4 spots which really wouldn't saved anything.

Now Andreas owns that deck.

This is exactly what I was thinking of doing over the winter, because I agree that the stock welds look pretty shitty. I also plan on doing a complete reinforcement of both my old a's including reinforcing the dropouts, the mech (same as above), putting a grindplate on one of the decks, re-welding and reinforcing the rear forks, and PEGS !lol

When im in Metal tech/shop next semester ( december- may ) in school, im going to weld all my old new a's that are snapped probably.

bolt locking the folding mech works just fine... i dont see a point to weld it thers not much u can improve??..
It works just fine until you ride one that is welded. There is a noticable difference. It is twice as solid plus there are a lot less parts to worry about and you never have to worry about making sure all the bolts are tight. Plus if you are a weight freak then welds are lighter than bolts.

What if you want to travel with your scoot? I'd much rather have bolts so I can undo it, and then put it into a suitcase for traveling. That's what I did and I personally think that some good stainless steel bolts, locking washers, and locking nuts, and you're good to go!

I have threadless forks. I loosen one bolt and the entire scooter comes apart. A lot easier than dealing with 3 bolts, 3 nuts and 6 washers plus all the wrenches when all I need is an allen key.

When I travelled last with my scooter I only need two allen wrenches, for taking off my wheels and bars, and that was pretty easy to build up/take apart.

Blade scooters have a welded folding clamp that is stock anyway but they are great to ride and the weld never gives any trouble unlike razor and their bolts..... but razors are really cool to

touche...I never thought of that, but I also hate adjusting my bars so that they're straight. I always seem to have them 2 mm off and that pisses me off and I end up adjusting them for an hour until I give up lol.
