What Camera? + If a mod/admin could move this to videography please

Hey, I'm completely baffled by all these weird camera names 6958643983464986439843694386349EOS or whatever. But I want to start filming and wondered what cameras/camcorders are good to use as a starter? I've seen people with grips that go over the camera and if somebody could explain all this to me, I'd really be grateful.

Do you want a dslr or video camera a great and cheap dslr is a canon rebel t2i and I'm not into video cams so I'm not sure about those

I want something for both really. Cause I want to film skating and take a camera out with me to take pictures too. And cause in my family we've only ever had digital and compacts I'm really confused. The t2i is still a little much, I'd also like something that fits grips.

As long as it has a tripod mount it will. Most cameras do have tripod mounts. I'm too lazy to find out if it has a tripod mount for you, so you can do that .

So the deal with the grip you are seeing is that its called an Opteka X-Grip. It has threads and a screw so that it will screw in and attach to pretty much any camera, and you can get them in three sizes and a large variation of colors. I love mine and dont know how i would film without it.
