Hi everyone,

son is 11 and 4 weeks ago he bought a rubbish scooter (Slamm Rage II Monster Ripper Ltd Edition) he wanted a better one but only had 80 quid so got this.
I feel bad that he wasted his money so want to get a new one for him.

I need help as I don't know what would be best. I'm in EngLAND.
I only have £200 to spend, can I get some recommendations from this forum.
I have tried researching myself but can't tell which is best, I've looked at the MGP NINJA...Madd Gear Pro Nitro or a Blunt - The Complete Black. I did look at this one too...District and Razor Ltd Edition V2 Custom Red Scooter.

During my research I came across sentences which seemed like a foreign language,
eg. dialed scooter,
I did read that its a good idea to have weather proofed bearings but I have no idea what wheels have weather proof bearings.
One last thing, I have noticed that people have said they cut their bars down...So I wondered what the is the best height set up for your bars?

Anyway I've tried to give a good idea of what very little I know, so once you've stopped laughing.....a little bit of help would be hugely appreciated,
many thanx, CONGOS. (A mother who knows nothing about scooters, sorry)

I would look into an ultra pro lo or a normal ultra pro. the lo has bars 21 high by 14 wide. (which is a good height but really narrow). The normal ultra pro has bars 26 high by 18 wide.( great width but the bars are way to high.) Depending on how much you have left I would buy some new grips. ODI longnecks are your best bet. As well as grip tape. The next upgrade would be some metal core wheels. A decent pair would run about 50-70 USD for a pair. As for the weather proof bearings I'm slightly confused by that statement but I'm sure someone else on here can help you with that.

My opinion would be to just get a Razor Ultra Pro Lo. This will save you money and you will be able to later get better parts if needed.
Razor Ultra Pro Lo
There is another stronger version with metal core wheels in a nicer color / style. It's called the Black Label Razor Ultra Pro Lo.
Black Label Ultra Pro Lo

*Note that the prices listed are in USD $.

Here's where things start to get pricy.. Modifications.

It'd be smart to start your son off with something lightweight: Razor Ultra Pro, Blunt Complete Scooter, or a District Complete Scooter.

Wheels:

Dogg's the only UK scooter retail company I know of off the top of my head, I can't think of anywhere else at the moment. Those are all legit things, though.

yes, cheers Joe,
I should have said in my OP that the main complaints with this scooter he bought last month is that its too heavy and the wheels are crap, the bar doesn't seem to have hardly any speed to the spin either.

Thanks for super fast replies, I'll go and take a look.
I just read on this forum someone bought a NINJA and said its awful and like a tank!

looks like all of these are available and in stock in the uk atm.

Madd Gears are heavy, even for older riders. You're better off not getting one. Also, if you live near a BMX shop, you could go and get any 1-1/8" BMX headset and get it pressed into the deck. Stock headsets that come with scooters are usually pretty slow.

Ah thanks, This is what I call help, cheers.
The ideas my son has come up with are scooters for £350, there's no way I'm paying that,
In my price range its the madd gears that his friends might have or want, you know at that age they kinda copy each other but don't really know why they are copying.

I don't know about a bmx place near me, I got his diamondback a few years back from the web.

Yes I meant waterproof bearings. LOL.

If you prefer a stronger scooter thats not gonna break when u do tricks, get a Maddgear team or pro or ninja or whatever. If you want a scooter that can be thrown around with ease (but has the chance of snappage) get a razor ultra, district, etc.
Wheels, go on the internet and find some flavors, eagles, envys, etc. dont get cheap stuff u will regret.

Just get a razor ultra pro, as he gets better or starts needing new parts buy him them. Or, you could buy a razor ultra pro and buy all new forks, headsets, handle bars and wheels with it, if you shop wisely it'll be under £200.

Slamm's arn't rubbish!!@@! Mines still Ok(kinda) after a few months of riding.

But yeah i'd just get him a razor ultra pro and maybe some new wheels and bars.
If you want to know about a good bar size to get him, Have the width of bars about the same as his shoulders width and height wise they should come up to about Half way up his thigh when hes standing on it. This is just what i've heard but seem's to work. :)
Hope he has fun riding. =D

How did the '@' sign get into an exclamation mark attack?

Half way up his calf???? That is honestly just stupid.

Thanks for all the replies and links, appreciated.

Hi Piccadilly, I think you musta made a bit of an error here with this comment,...........

"height wise they should come up to about Half way up his calf when hes standing on it".

I'm sure you'll be back to correct yourself. LOL.
