wow epic dick move guys.. the dude simply was wondering what it does and you guys come up with some of the stupidest things I've ever heard trying to sound funny..

its cause threads in forks are like the holes in dotted paper that you tear out. They have a weak area that can break pretty easily. But threadless has no breakable area. Try snapping a solid steel pipe in half. its pretty hard. So since there arent threads, you need something to hold your threadless, slippery parts together, hence, compression. Compression squeezes everything together

pretty much explains it for you dude.

threadless forks are much stronger and since there are no threads you need a compression system to tighten everything. plus your headset doesn't come loose every five seconds like when you run a threaded hedset. you can also run good sealed headsets so your headset spinds much faster and smoother.

compression systems? they hold your forks and bars together without using threads(that weakens the fork). It is used with a threadless fork, threadless headset, and bars with or without slits, depending on what compression you used.
they are suppose to make your scooter more dialed/solid.
but its not working for me=(

It keeps pulls your fork and bars together, keeping your threadless headset tight, so it spins well without wobbling, or damaging the headset.
