WHEEL IDEA.

supgeez99

I got myself banned.
Okay i was thinking, i bet 100 people have thought of this already.
I quit scooters for months because i had no parts, a mate gave me a scooter with a few wheels and i've broken them all already.
I was thinking, why can't a scooter wheel be made like a bmx wheel?
A few minor adjustments and it could... right?
Correct me if im wrong, im not that familiar with PSI and so forth, but would enough air get into a small tube to support a scooter and rider?
I'm curious.

Edit: Maybe a job for MADIS or ANDREW?

There is already air wheels available, but the classic bmx spoke, hub and rim design has not been made.

Well considering that tires and tubes are a hell of a lot weaker than a SOLID ring of urethane (good urethane mind you)....it's useless.

It would be good for dirt, good luck trying to make a hub and what not to fit on a scooter though.

Maybe just have the normal core with a tube and tyre on it, but maybe like a 140-150mm wheel? Purely for dirt riding.

Get like a metal CORE, put a mini tube and tire on it, and drill a hole through the side of the core so that the tube nozzle can stick out so you can pump it up.

I've been thinking this for so many months now, almost a full year, and i really think we could get farther with scootering using tires and tubes. We could go on any terrain, and would'nt ever have to really worry about breaking and/or dehubbing them. If we break a part of the wheel, which is very unlikely to happen, we could just order a new part to it.

The full set of 2 wheels could easily cost like $60 bucks, and replacement parts could be

1 Tire: $5
1 tube $5
1 Wheel $25

I would definately go for that. We could even start designing wider dropouts and wider forks.
I think this change should really go through and happen.

if you mean bike spokes they would be to hard to fit on such a small hub but like just a normal yak hub or something then that shoulnt be to hard

mat, you make it. along with those cheese forks and that one piece deck. double torsion springs and quad clamps, too. what happened to solid state?

I think you would roll tires really easily. The bead would be seating on the tinniest lip so it wouldn't grab very well. Also, how would the valve work? There would be hardly any room to get a pump in there, even if you had a Presta valve.

If you use high pressure tires (like KHE Mac's) and make something like 150mm wheels, It could deff. Work.

Only thing is; hubs 25mm wide wont work, So there should be something to make it like 90/100mm To get that stiffnes to the sides.

Sorry for my bad english, I'm just a dutch guy :)
