which would be more helpful?

Since i live in a town with no skatepark i am considering building some kind of jump or mini park in my basement (which is huge). Which do you think would be more helpful to a new rider, a halfpipe/quarterpipe or a funbox?

thanks,

It depends what you want to learn, if you want to become more of a street rider you should build a funbox. If you want vert than you should build a mini pipe.

definately build a miniramp, and put a kicker perpendicular to it so you can ramp off it and grind on the coping as if it were a ledge.

NONE OF THE ABOVE

jump straight into street riding and become ah gnar shredder of the rails and ledges that surround you!

He should ride street, but what if its crappy weather outside? Thats when quarter pipes, kickers, and boxes are fun.

In my opinion, get a quarter pipe and a box. That would make the best of a rainy day IMO.

Wow thanks for all the quick responses, reason I can't build both is that I am not rich so it's a one or the other. Would 3-3.5 feet be too short for a quarterpipe?

or you could be uber thrifty like me, and steal an abandoned pallet box, get a candle, and youre set for winter.

I think I will just build the funbox but in parts so it's essentially 2 kickers and a box/manny pad. I dunno if im just being a complete noob by thinking it would be easier to get air off a kicker for a begginner than a quarterpipe?

its probabky easier to start with getting air off a kicker but in the long run a quarter pipe would do a better job i think. also i'm guessing there will be small banks and stuff in your town but no quarter pipe lying around so i suggest a quarterpipe

That is like my dream height for a mini. If every park I went to had one this size I would live there. Good for so much tech and for some air stuff.
