Why I hate Black Metal....

One famous Russian writer (Bulgakov, if I am not mistaken) said that "true is what you believe. Thats why after death exemplary Christian goes to Heaven and atheistic scientist goes Nowhere". This point of view is very close to me. There are a lot of facts that proove this theory. For example, clinical death: in this condition Christians see such things as paradise, angels, etc in contrast to atheists that see nothing. I am an Orthodox Christian but for me it doesn't matter if you are Orthodox, Catholical or Mohammedian. The fact is that the Afterlife exists! If it doesn't, what for we live?! Even if you would make the greatest discovery in the history of humanity(like Einstein or Newton or Darwin) that would make you the greatest person ever, you must remember that nothing is eternal (the humanity, in particulary) and one day the Universe would disappear the way we see it today, and all of your services would be useless. And if you believe in afterlife then you would spend an eternal quantity of time in place you deserved... !lol
But there is just one slag to it.... The word "eternal".I think it is too difficult for human understanding. What would be, when we would spend an "eternal quantity of time" in Heaven? I mean that the "eternal" can't be really "eternal"!!!!! For example what was, when there was no universe 12 billion years ago(one more proof of God's existance: it couldn't appear randomly ?Nothing? But what was before this "nothing"? ?! Another example is connected with the space. Is it really endless? What is behind the Universe? A parralel universe? Maybe... But what is behind this and maybe other parralel universe, whats behind ALL of these parallel universes?.... There are too much mysteries we need to clarify....

The way I see it is having faith in a higher power is Death Insurance. I rather go somewhere good when I die than somehwere bad and if all these atheists are right and there is no after life then it won't effect me anyways so I have nothing to lose BUT if those atheists are wrong they are going to wish they had gotten some Death Insurance.

This is called the Pascal's Bet, as originally thought of by Blaise Pascal in 17th century.

And about the Gorgoroth guy, he's just promoting his image to make it fit with their music and thus, increase the sales of their music. Another thing he's doing is the scandal policy which is one of the most common marketing methods, especially in show buisness. The fact that we bother taking a look at this guy proves that it works well.

As for the religion, Im very much into scientific stuff. Supposing that would make me atheistic? Not really. See, we, humans are limited by the four-dimensional spacetime we live in. This limits not only our posibilities of acting but also our thought process: no one can really imagine what is beyond our timespace, not to mention rational research in those fields. And that's where God (possibly) is, as he existed before the beginning of time (if 'before' is a suitable word). The conclusion is that there's no other way of taking such stuff in consideration than the way of belief. Simple as that.

And Ian, no offence but you're a weird guy. Why do you post here ONLY in threads about either religion or progressive rock?

Yeah, Megadeth is a funny band. Dave Mustaine formed it after being kicked out of Metallica, and continued to fight with almost every member of his band. Thus, I don't think that there was a long peroid of the same people playing in a band. But they play some good trash metal.
