Right, so I was reading a wikipedia article about heavy metal. I came across this band listed as an example of a contemporary heavy metal band (I mean REAL heavy metal, like Led Zeppelin, Steppenwolf or Deep Purple) and the fact that I love absolutely all of their songs Ive heard by now made me make this thread. they arent really metal its like rock but classic sorta rock style

They are HEAVY metal, not to be confused with metal what it is today. In the 70s, rock songs with heavy rhytm, power chords, etc. were called 'heavy metal' from the phrase which was first used in the Born to be Wild song. Other metal genres evolved from that, but original heavy metal is rather a rock genre.
