And it's a full donut de-hub (nearly) which is extremely unusual for eagles, they usually chunk. Plus, the wheel has next to no wear so yeah, I think defective

it's not "defective." I've figured out on eagle wheels if you don't wear them in it first before riding really hard on them they tend to break easier. so when you get a new eagle wheel go bomb a giant hill to get them broken in. you can contact marcel and see if he'll refund/replace it. you will probably need proof of purchase too.
