i know what you mean
and in the time ive been riding ive given just about everything up
ALL OF MY FRIENDS are basically gone but the kids i ride with i couldnt picture being like friends with, except a few but they live far or moved to aus (hayden hahah) i still hang out with my friernds from time to time but its weird.

and its going to take a long time for scooters to get mainstream but i honestly dont give a flying fuck anymore.
i dont care how many bmxers or skaters tell me its stupid or whatever.

well ill still be subscribing cause i watch alot of bass covers on youtube haha

i hope you start riding again and i know your last video will be good.
if you dont start again i hope you gain all of your friends back and stuff.

I've given up going to the skatepark to hang out with my girlfriend every weekend and i like it that way. Eventually you realize that you needs friends and a life above going to ride. Good point Derek.

I understand what your saying, like i don't have the want to ride scooters anymore, i am not saying i quit, cause i will ride, but only with people, its the only way i sort have fun.

I have noticed recently, since i have started riding bikes, i get a lot more respect from people, more people want to do stuff with me and i generally have more fun, i don't really know what i like about bikes compared to scooters but ya

BTW, props on such a large amount of writing

I know EXACLTY what your talking about Derek.
I would way rather be hanging out with people then riding.
For instance, Serjey always gives me shit because I dont tell people I scooter, and I dont rep scooters, and I dont ride hella, and all this stuff.
I'm like, scooterings like a last resort for me.
Its fun, but if I can be doing something else like hanging out with friends or go to a party, I'd way rather do that.

i dont think you understand what im saying.

riding was my escape, i wanted to ride every minute of every day. but i no longer feel that and because i was out riding all the time i have lost freinds and shiit. its not my 'perspective' its just the way things are.

well you cant make yourself love riding so just quit and im sure you will come back to it eventually, and if not than you will just move on alright. Ive always kept a decent balance between riding and having a life...its not that hard to do. Ride when your bored/need excersize/are depressed, etc. and when you have plans with friends ditch yo scoot <3
what if you have no life to begin with haha? :(

Derek man, sucks to see you go, but I kinda see your point. And as much as I'd like to see scootering develop and progress as a sport, I really couldn't care less, as long as I can still ride and meet people, have fun, and get new scooters when they break, then I'm happy.

Also agree with you about the balance thing, I actually think I said the same thing as you back when I read sean kane's post haha, but now I'm actually finding myself turning down hanging with friends to go and ride a few times, which is pretty low of me, but meh, I dislike over 90% of the people I go to school with, and I am an epic fail at being social, so no biggie..

To the people I pissed off on this site: Mission accomplished.

To the rest of SR: fucck you all, little bastards.

I laughed :)

you're seriously one of the coolest people i've ever met. wish i could see more of your riding, but reading your posts on SR is almost as good.

about the social life point, thats almost kindof true for me. i know that theres no place i'd rather be than on my scooter. am i a loner? yea, you could say that. does that bother me? no, i don't think so. i really have no idea what i'm trying to say here, so i'll leave it at this:

god damn man... you kids lose motivation to ride soo fast nowadays... i've been riding scooters for 8 years, and i love it more and more everyday. if i get bored, ill go outside for like 10 minutes and ride flat or a curb and still have as much fun as i would riding some super awesome park.

derek, as much as i think you're a jerk, i think you're a cool kid. i enjoy watching your vids whenever you make one. i think you should stick with riding.. you're gonna get bored without it if you dont ride as often.

exactly man. %100 ageed. I was thinking of this the other day and I mean as long as you have motivation even if razor and micro go outa business we can still make our own scooters (who know maybe you'll be even more motivated haha)

I know dude, out of my entire grade theres LITTERALLY only 2 guys I even want to hang out with. LITERALLY. I am an extremely non-social person.. i'm extremely selective to who i hang out with and who i like (maybe thats the down side of growing up as an only child.. i can't take being around other people for extrended periods of time unless i get on well with them really good).

take for example when i was in NZ with matt (hahah epic shiit), at one point i got so pissed off i put a box and a TV infornt of my door (it didnt have a lock) and had to screw with the lock on the window JUST so he couldn't get in haha.

anyway - i rememebr a while ago my dad gave me hella weird advice he pretty much said "even if you don't like someone you should still be a good person to them" (something a long that) and i was pretty much like "why the fucck would you do that?" but its honestly so true. it's weird but i realise it so much more now. i have a lot of regrets (socially) for a 16 year old haha,.

thats not my point. im just passing on advice that I wish I took more notcie of really. this wont apply to like %97 of people. and probably %90 are thinking 'your gay thats dumb' but whatever.

thats the thing - i thought i was going to be riding for a long time. i was at a point where i was meeting a lot of people due to riding (do i ever hang out with them?... haha nope.). Sure you probably can get a lot of friends that you chill with if your like 12.. but I'm a lot older then any new rider then i meet.

I was the same bro, only thing i wanted to do. but what if you loose intrest like i have?. pretty much leaves you fuckeed (unless your really good at being social lol. im just not).

and in response:
13.5 WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDE LOVE IT SOOOON

edit: thought i'd point out THIS isn't the point where i quit. i have not rode (for more then 10 min) in a while. before that was when i made my mini (and i used old footy lol) and before that I can't even remember. just thought id clear that up.

oh and im hella surpirsed this hasnt spawened into a big bithout argument lol

I dont get why everyone talking about how its impossible to ride and have a life.

Are you kidding me?

I work 40 hours a week, spend so much time and put so much energy into my beautiful son, pay for rent, cable, electric, insurance, gas, food...bla bla bla....

I still ride a minimum of an hour a day. And that wont change till i can backflip whip.

wat

where did i say i was too busy?. i never did. i said i was riding so much it effected my social life.
&& by the way, who gave you the right to assume if/how much free time i get?

id say anyone who is fully dedicated to bmx skateboarding or scootering wont really have much of a social life but seriously alot of you need to stop all this scooter for life because no. your most probably not going to scooter for life. keep scootering but be more open to people and start being more social.
i used to be an anti social bitch then i started to not ride scooters and ive got great friends and i have alot more fun talking with them or fuckin around than i did riding scooters.
and ALOT of the people on here need to start getting more of a social life....

i think i've gotten to the point where if i was going to quit i would have quit a long time ago.

also, make a triple whip tut. i cannot do those for teh life of me.

no offense this thread is getting annoying, do what you must, if you dont want to scooter, you dont have to tell the world, if i quit its for myself, not for me to tell every1 on a scooter forum about it. hahahhaa
