Its a good album, but it is going to be a huge turn off to older fans..,.as if they werent turned off enough by Sing The Sorrow, they will be officially turned off by this record...AFI's first record was, Answer That and Stay Fashionable...waaay back in 95, if anyones listened to that record, which i doubt most of you have, youll hear the AFI that most people started to love, hard fast music, yelling and blah blah...and people liked it, because it sounded raw, and uncut. next record was Very Proud Of Ya, released one year after there first album, and it again stuck to that same sound...but by there next album, "Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes" my fav. of there now 7 albums, You can start seeing a difference, the band wanted to start USING there instruments, and they wanted to start writing lyrics that were a lil more serious...compared to songs such as, Cruise Control, whos chorus was made up of, "I Dont Want To Fuck You, I Dont Want To Fuck You, I Dont Want To Fuck You...So Fuck YOU!" lol...and with that, they started there slow transition, slowly changing over the years, and then in 2003 they released Sing The Sorrow, with the first single being Girls Not Grey, and its video debuting on MTV...that through fans off immediatley...here it is, there seeing there quiet hush hush band, that despite them wanting it to, was slowly being found by more and more people...and now it was out there for all to see...on MTV, and the music was not the same anymore...but It Sounded Better...it wasnt what i was used to, but it was what i expected...slower songs, deeper lyrics, better guitars, strong bass lines, and Davey was using his voice alot more...so when i knew Decemberunderground was coming out, i was apprehensive, i knew this record was going to be far from what i wished it would be, and thats a throwback to around there 97-99 material...Then Miss Murder came out, and it was a good song...but they jes dont write like they used to, Davey's writing used to be so unique, the words he would use, and things like that. But this record it seems like he wanted to break it down for people, and now hes writing really simple lyrics, and straight through songs...dont get me wrong, i like the record...but its jes not what i wish it was.

basically what steven said, seeing how he had AFI in his profile for like 2 years straight i think he knows what hes talking about.

my favorite AFI is definitely the old punk stuff. i liked sing the sorrow too even though it was completely different. the new cd is just too much of a change for me though and it pisses me off that they sold out.

I'm sure it is hard to keep your old sound when you blow out your vocal cords. It's too bad though cause the old sound was good and I had always hoped to see them live but now I don't care.

There live shows used to be nothing short of amazing...total crowd involvement, but now its jes not the same. And im no longer dying to see them again....And although a lot of there sound did come from Davey, and his old way of using his voice, it was also the way Jade and Hunter and Adam played...since there old stuff it seemed like each Record they would try and play better, not like there old harder style..but more cleaned up and smoothed out, thats where they started losing fans. Then when Davey stopped being so angry in his songs, and changed his writing style, and singing style...they lost more...tragic, it truly is.
