After Window Movie Maker?

I've using Window Movie Maker for my video editing/creating but I would like to be able to do more. It is so basic and I have some ideas that cannot be accomplished with movie maker. What would you guys suggest to use rite after you decided to upgrade. I'm not sure if I need Sony Vegas cause that might be overkill but is there a good software that is a little better than Windows MM?

i think you could just learn the basics of Vegas

I use it because it works with most formats unlike WMM

vegas is what i used after windows movie maker and its so much better, you can do alot more in it
