annoying tight headset

I have a threaded headset
whenever i ride my scoot anywhere the headset always tightens up on me so i have to keep it REALLY loose otherwise it'll tighten up again in like 3 minutes
its quite annoying.
is there any way to get rid of it?

your top bearings are probably f---ed. take it off and check it out, that happened to me when i rode stocks.

maybe go to a bike shop and lock the lock nut on top of the cone

when u run bmx headset on threaded forks do u still need the nit ontop??coz my fork pole is short and comes undone with just the nut with the dust cover and if i put the lock nut on my my bars dont clamp properly any ideas what i should do?

i still have a stock headset and it is smooth as. They work fine, as brian said check if the bearings are the right way up and down. Then clean them in rubbing alcohol and put a lithium based grease inside the top at bottom cup = PWNAGE.

thats what i did and it runs fine
hasnt come loose once

or you can use the nut that goes on top of a stock headset

dude will tape them and your bolts are REALLY loose u can turn it with ur hand tighten your bolts

its the headset nut
