Dont waste your time with recording onto memory sticks, trust me. Your wasting your cameras abilitys if you do that. Buy tapes, a firewire and if your comptuer dosn't have a firewire card get one of those too. USB capturing is gross, recording onto memory sticks is gross. Most of the time, mini dv cameras have memory sticks for taking pictures.

edit: and yeah the camera looks decent, go for it.

alright, how much is a firewire thing? is that like a floppy disk port, but fatter and less wider? so you can put tapes into your PC?

lmfao.
no.
its a card that goes in the back, near everything else on the back. you plug in a fireWIRE cable to the card, and one to the camera to upload, etc.

Yeah like Miles said, its a PCI card you slide into your computer (you just have to open the case, unscrew a little dust protector and push the card in the slot), than you connect a wire from that card to your camera and use premiere or somthing to capture the footage. You can find a combo package of a firewire and cord on ebay for like 5-10 dollars. If your parents are beat when it comes to ebay check out http://newegg.com

My first camera was a nvgs25 and it was a good reliable camera, good for people who are getting into photography. That cam is basically the same as it.

I dont find them as reliable as tapes. The whole idea sounds sketchy. If the camera gets hit it might mess somthing up with the writing mechanisem and stuff. But if it works whatever
