The orthodox mormon church bans polygamy. but there are certain fringe groups, like their are with anything.

Also, in before anthony turns this into a flame fest.

They only banned it because they needed to in order for Utah to become a state.

also, there are 7 million members of the church of jesus christ of ladder day saints, aka "mormons" in the usa, so not too uncommon. and there are a quarter million more converted to the church each year.

also remember this isn't a thread about your opinion of the LDS church.

polygamy was mostly practiced in the early days of the restoration of the church because between fighting indians, the government, and the hard trip to utah from the east, many men died causing women to be widowed. in order to take care of all the extra women, some men took on more than one wife. here's the official stance of the church on the issue: http://lds.org/study/topics/polygamy-plural-marriage?lang=eng&query=Polygamy

this is the type of stupid comment that would turn a thread into a flame fest. did you see i posted already? did i say anything wrong? i could say sooooooooo many things right now, and i want to as well, but im not going to. you saying that made me want to do it soooo bad. you barely know me, don't try to predict my actions.

This thread is open again, but Colton, you said you don't want opinions, so don't give yours or try to force mormonism on anybody, if you do the thread is gone. If you want to give an opinions you have to be willing to take them.

mormonism is in fact fake and a complete false religion.. no offense .. but by being mormon your worshipping false gods and are not one of gods people

I love you haha. And Tom one thing I promised myself is I wont force mormonism on anyone, just when people like get all that crap wrong about us it kinda bugs me. And I made this thread to see what other mormon riders there were, not for opinions so..

if you had the spirit of god in you, you wouldnt ask such a question. you would just go on with your life with your own beleifs. mormons do not worship the real god, they are not gods people, your beleifs are only beleifs, not reality im sorry

stop trying to convince people that your version of your god is the right one, it's pathetic. all religion is equal, including yours, get over it.

How is it that im anti-theist and i have more respect for this kids religion than someone whos religious beliefs are so far fetched that even scientologists would laugh at you? You're religious kiddo, get over it. If you have a problem with being labeled religious, go ask the people who make dictionaries to change the definition.. and if you don't agree with the definition, stop speaking english.

You are no different than him other than the fact that you push your beliefs on everyone around you.. all religions are equal, including yours.
