Let's make this the general itunes/ipod/apple help/suggestions thread.

dropped my itouch the other day and it turned off. Now it won't turn on unless plugged into my wall charger or my ihome. It doesn't respond when i plug it into my laptop but i also don't have itunes on my laptop. When plugged into the ihome or my wall charger it works perfectly fine except my newsfeed on my facebook app doesn't load and my twitter feed doesn't load.

any suggestions?

I'm about to go to the apple store in twenty minutes so hopefully they can help.

also, can ipods be dismantled and put back together?

Hold the power and home button for ten seconds while it's not plugged in.

classic* lol. ive also fixed itouches though. it sounds like the ribbon cable for the battery could have snapped, or it could be a problem with the logic board. gotta open it up and take a look.

it's the battery. the reason it responds with the wall charger and not the computer is because the computer doesn't send enough power to the ipod.

it's a third generation touch, anyone got links to some dismantling instructions? any tips?

use a hair dryer (or heat gun) to loosen the adhesive (not for too long though because the lcd will start to come apart in a bad way, about 45 seconds around the entire ipod should be fine) or it will be really hard to take it apart.

This is really tempting to try. I'd much rather replace the battery on my own but my mom would flip if she found out.. and I think I'm still under warranty..

How hard is this to do compared to replacing laptop keyboards, for example? That's one thing that I've done that's similar to this.

Ah crap, I don't have access to solder. oh well.

Cant get my iPod into DFU mode, to use Redsn0w. Tips?

turn your ipod off then hold the power and home button for 10 seconds. Let off the power button but keep holding the home button for another 20 seconds or until the itunes picture pops up. And if you on ios 5 id wait for a untethered jailbreak.
