This is my reply to two of the posts on that bmx thread:
Sweet Il keep my eye out for ItalianBikeCo sponsored riders and events at a skatepark near me in 20 years...
Come one guys, its a laugh. Lighten up. I wouldnt care if a skateboard company did this with bikes, nor would i assume all skaters are assholes because of it. I would rather see a bike be traded for a board, or a scooter traded for a bike, than a scooter or bike be traded for drugs or something. And that Hitler comment...? CHILL THE **** OUT
1. i have been to many parks in NZ, spanning the north and south islands (its NZ bro, not North America)
2. i have failed to see anyone into the age of double-digits scootering on a scooter
3. its funny how you fail to mention where your local is, maybe because youre lying?
4. and whos sponsoring these progressive scooter kids? come on, tell me.
There are plenty of riders who are over the age of 9 who take it seriously. Josh Toy, American, is 25. Stan Smirnoff, American, is 20. Cooper Klaar, American, is 16. Chris Gascoigne, American, is 21. Anthony Bustos, American, is 22. Tyler Bonner, American, is 18. Coedie Donovan, Australian, is 21. Ryan Williams, Australian, is 15. Billie Rainbow, Australian, is 18. Terry Price, English, is 22. Graham Kimbell, English, is 17. And the list goes on and on.
I'm sure you could just be missing the shredders that go to parks, or there aren't any that go to parks around where you go in NZ.
But just to clarify, Razor is not the only company that sponsors riders. There is Lucky, Phoenix, Rad, Madd Gear, Inward, Scooterzone, Barking Spider, District, Addict, TSI, Ambush, Pro Ride, Zero Gravity, and more.
Just sayin, that there are companies out there that sponsor riders, the sport is growing rapidly, and yes I know the little douche bag scooter kids piss me off too cuz they have no skatepark etiquette. But that doesn't mean all of us scooter riders are douche bags. If you got to know more than half of the community, you'd realize how down to earth most of us are and we respect all sports and the people that ride them. No need to hate you know?
But back on topic, about the whole promo thing, I understand it was only in Australia, but it was indeed a screwed up initial intention to destroy the scooters. I don't care if a kid trades in his scooter and they help him get some free bike parts, if the kid is getting into biking instead. But if the company is seriously glorifying that they are going to destroy the scooters and say that they want them off the streets and parks, then I would take that as them shoving it in our faces saying, "Hey kid you like scooters right? Well watch me destroy it!! HAHAHA Pusssssssssyy!!"
Companies need MORE attitude, not less.
What kind of an attitude for a company is that? There's a fine line between a CHILDISH ATTITUDE and a PROFESSIONAL ATTITUDE.
