*Fork Mod
This is a fork mod that dad thought of about 2 years ago. The first one got stolen in june 07 so i got a new one about 3 months ago.
So far the fork has been really good so ill show you it.
First you get your broken fork and put it on as normal, then you compress the headset with your nut and stuff.
(You hade to have broken your forks above the compression nut for this to work)
Then dad found this special threadless fork converter which is for downhill mountain bikes i believe?
This shows a shim and the spacer.
This shows the bolt you use to tighten the threadless adapter with shim.
We then slide the threadless fork adapter into the shim, then slip the shim and threadless adaption into the inside of the broken fork, and tighten the bolt really hard.
NOTE: This will not work with new pro model forks unless you file out the inside.
Once completed you slip your bars on and tighten as normal.
(Except on all the way)
The threadless section of the fork is really thick and that special bolt thing and the shim that go inside your fork tube act as a reinforcement for the rest of the fork.
Once the threadless adapter is tight, your headset is tight and your bars are tight and alligned you can go for a ride knowing you have a nice solid ass fork
The outcome?
A really strong forkk lol
