I have so many friends who actually play instruments basically look up to this band haha.
being talented doesn't mean you can write music.
look at dragonforce, they're shredtastic, but i wouldn't call what they play good.
now look at the beatles. widely considered the greatest band of all time, but they weren't necessarily considered great musicians.
it's now how you play so much as it is what you play. it doesn't matter how talented you are if you don't have the creativity to write a good song.

But if excellent musicians with crazy technique write good and innovative music, they get double respect. Like Fall of Troy, Dance Gavin Dance, Iwrestledabearonce, Dillinger Escape Plan and so on.
But that doesn't refer to Avanged Sevenfold lol. I prefer Protest The Hero in this genre =]

There not horrible but i dont know much of theyre music. I really so far only like Unholy Confessions just because its fun to play on guitar.
haha i was with one of my friends who plays drums amazingly earlier and asked him why he likes them so much. Response:
"Their backup guitarist has more talent than both the guitarists in dance gavin dance combined, and other than paul gilbert their lead guitarist is the best out right now. Their drummer is also one of the most talented out there right now and their singer doesn't use cheap effects to make his voice sound better like a ton of other bands out there right now."
I'll show him the response to the other things but once he sees someone suggested dance gavin dance as being better he will probably laugh. I agree I enjoy listening to dance gavin dance a TON more, but I can really respect the talent that avenged sevenfold has.

and honestly, john mayer is a better guitarist than whoever the 2 douchebags from a7x are who decided to change their names to sound cool.
about 2 years ago i was a huge saosin fanboy. i got to hang out with them once, and i spent about an hour talking with justin and beau, their 2 guitarists. at the time they were on tour with avenged sevenfold, so i saw them open then left and ran into them outside the venue. they're both genuine musicians with a lot of talent, and they completely agreed that avenged sevenfold was a total disgrace to the metal genre in general. actually hearing them talk about how they're all douchebags was one of the funniest moments of my life.
so they may be talented, but that have no ability to write a good song.

im just being honest. when bat country came out i listened to the song a few times and then they sucked. that was the only good song they had. sorry breh. they justt suck.
