Back Pain. Short Bars?

Last week I was at my local, just grinding this ledge. For about an hour I just did FS feebles on it, and then all of the sudden, My back just had this wierd spasm thing. My back still hurts right now and when I scooter for long periods of time its just kills me to ride, I can barely breathe in and it sucks. I just got new bars like 2 months ago, They are 22H and I'm 5'5, I don't know what the problem is. Is it my bars being too low? I know the bars are supposed to be like level with your dick, they are like right on my thighs I guess? Does that make a huge difference?

Should I get SCS and raise it 1.5 inches?

Oh and its my upper back in between my shoulder blade and my spine. Both sides, left and right.

Yeah, its definitely your bars. I used to ride 21 tall, then went to 23 tall, and it made a world of difference. Then I just went from 23 tall to 24.5 tall, and its soo much better. My back has just hurt less and less.

Things like how you land and pull up for hopping can also cause your back to get messed up. Unless your bars are kota short and your not leaning over hella you should be OK with the height your bars are at now. Maybe try too do some stretches before you ride.

yea man im like 5'9 and i ride 20'5 i think and im fine but once or twice i have had a problem similar but it was when i was doing a drop and i think the spasim came from landing awkward but i think it has alot to do with the way you land and jerk your body. your bar height is probably fine

I'm about 6'1 and used to ride 22.5 high, At that height I got a pretty sore back while riding. Even when I wasn't riding my back would get sore and uncomfortable. Then I got bars that are 25 high and it made a big difference, I liked it alot more and my back doesn't get as sore at all while I'm riding.

Alright listen up and pay attention dude because there's a lot of things in reading what you've said that are really ringing alarm bells with me. About a month ago i was diagnosed with whats called Scheuermann's Disease (shermans) and a lot of the symptoms you're describing are the same. Have you grown a lot recently? Like are you between 16-20yo? It's the breathing problem thing which concerns me the most. About 4 months ago i started to get progressively worse back pain, and i also thought it was because of my bars being too low, upgraded em, did nothing. Eventually it got to the point where i was having major problems breathing and pain all the time. I still have pain now. Haven't ridden in almost 4 months and i'm told that i may never ride again and that it will be at least 1-2 years before ill know for sure. What could be going on, and this is what happened to me, is if youre at the age where youre going to be growing, or your body is preparing for growth, your gorwth plates and bones in your spine become a lot softer and more malleable. This means theyre a lot easier to damage. Accompanied with the constant harsh impacts that all action sports give to your body, this could be crushing your vetrebrae, and squashing the your spinal discs. These discs have a series of nerves connected to them, which spread out all across your chest, especially the rib cage, and across your diaphragm. When these nerves are crushed they cause all the muscles theyre connected to to tighten up. This is what may be causing your shortness of breath. What concerns me even more is you're describing the exact area where my vertebrae are damaged. I have three permanently mishaped vertabrae in between my shoulder blades.
You need to go and see a chiropractor, and get an X'RAY done IMMEDIATELY. The longer you leave this and ride with this condition the worse it is for you. Avoid sitting down because this compresses your spine and makes it even worse.
Please go and get an x-ray immediately.

Please go and get checked out, because you don't want to end up like me. I go to the chiropractor once a week and will be starting intensive physiotherapy in the next week or so which i may have to do twice a week for at least the next year. Sitting down for more than 5 minutes is incredibly uncomfortable. My spine is permanently damaged. As in, the vertebrae will NEVER form properly.
If i could upload my x-rays i would, but yeah, they aren't pretty man. Go get checked out.
