Bars with too long of a slit

So today I traded a friend my bars for a pair of the newer batwings, and I discovered that the slit in them is like 4 inches long. Is there anything I can do to cover the slit? I didn't really wanna buy another clamp, but if it keeps my bars from snapping I probably will.

Take a pair of standard bars, wrap a piece of duct tape around it, then hammer it up until the bottom is at the part were you think it should be.

Is the duct tape really necessary? My HIC shim is pretty snug as it is.
Tbh I might just go out and buy a SCS and throw a piece of bar up into the bars.

Well the slit is actually on the side of the bars, do you think it's less prone to snap because of the location of the slit?

gryndo has them, and if you use "casey" you get free shipping.
im pretty sure it will work on all forks. i recommended it because it's really tall and should strengthen your bars.

you can put a shim up them but i wouldnt bother putting any effort into bars that are gonna bend faster than the time it takes you to jam the shim in lol
