Better For Grinding A or B

in the past i have snapped 2 B's right through the middle from grinding to much concrete ledges etc.
would an A put up with more?

(1)grind smoother ledges, or (2)use a grindplate, or (3)make a grindplate from 1/8" thick aluminum that can be replaced when they get worn down too much.

find some aluminum sheets at your local hardware store, cut them to the shape of the bottom of your deck, slap some gorilla glue on the bottom of your deck and clamp them on for a while, or you can get slightly thicker metal and countersink screws so they hold it but dont stick out past the plate and screw you up

thats what i do, make sure you use decent metal glue though
