its only about half an inch? and with the spacers in, it goes exactly next to the little lip in the middle of the compression? and i dont have a hacksaw, and the bike shop across the road charges ALOT to cut stuff down, so that should be a last resort :/

Yep, that's the problem. You need to get another spacer or cut the fork a little bit, the top of the fork needs to be below the lip, not right next to it.
Get a new spacer or cut the fork then put it all together, you'll be fine.

no, the forks are threadless? they have threads inside them for hic, but that dosn't have anything to do with scs..

HIC and SCS both work similar: You use a compression Bolt from the top of the Fork, either on top of an HIC shim or with a Top cap and SCS.

If the Fork is Threaded INTERNALLY there should be no need to drive a Starnut in to the fork tube since the Fork comes with a Threaded hole for the Compression bolt.

The term "Threadless" when speaking of Forks, applies to the OUTSIDE of the fork tube.

right, confused here, mainly because skatehut told me to take of the hic and install a starnut, although they could be wrong :l the forks had the hic with them, and it had like, a giant bolt that screwed into the forks, with a hole in it, are you saying that i could have left that in and used it instead of a starnut?!

Yes.

...but the bolt that came with the HIC will obviously have to fit through the hole in the Top cap used with SCS.

99% of them use the same bolt but of course theres always some that could be a different size.

Skatehut should have replacement compression bolts and it is a good idea to replace them as soon as you notice any Rounding of the allen socket.

You are probably going to have to cut it.
