but musically, he's nothing special. the whole point of "urban folk" when it developed was to make music that was extremely simple so the focus would be on the lyrics.

and that is why i can't call bob dylan a great musician

He is amazing. Without having any apparent talent he wrote simple stuff that people liked. And his lyrics make little sense most of the time which is fun to listen to.
