Hi, i've just baught some pegs, but when i went to put them on the back whell i found that the back bolts were tightened wayy too much and i couldnt get them off. Any ideas on how i can get them loose?? One of the bolts are a bit rounded inside. Also this is a slamm rage.

Any help would be most welcome, but please do not moan about i shouldn't of got a slamm or how rubbish they are or that i shoudl of got a razor. Please only post about my problem. Thankyou.

P.S. I asked in a bike shop and they said i might have to have it drilled out.

I'm sorry im not very informed on this type of stuff =L, what are vise grips and how should i use them.*O_O*
Thankyou.

EDIT: I found out what tht was, but im pretty sure that won't work because the screw is rounded on the top heres a pick to show you what i mean:

These are a bit big but it's all I have at the shop, you can get them in needle nose style that may work better.

I'm trying that right now, but what seems to be happening is: when i tighten the wrench around the screw and start turning it just slips and the wrench turns around the screw. =/

Don't use the Vise grip to try and turn the Bolt- You are just trying to stop the Bolt from turning while using the Allen wrench to turn the bolt.

You may have to have someone stronger squeeze the Vise grips tighter.

It is not 100%- if the bolt is really stuck then drilling it out may be the only way.

Yeah im starting to think drilling is the only way too =/.
All i do for drilling is drill a little way into the screw so it is no longer attached to the theaded part??
Anyway thankyou for your help, i'll say what i had to do in the end for futhure help for anyone.

Drilling it out isn't going to be that easy either because you'll just remove the Head of the bolt and the Threaded part will still be in the other half (female) of the Axle.

Too bad yer not around here be a 5 min deal.

Any Auto mechanics around you?

The other option is to have them use a Cut off disc and cut a Slot in the head of the bolt so you could use a Flat Head screw driver.

hmm yeah, but il just be able to pull in out with the other half won't i??
And yeah we got lots of auto mechanics near us, think they'd do it lol.??

It won't damage the wheel but if you drill too far you risk hitting the deck with the Drill bit.

If the mechanics are close by give them a try they may be able to get it off for you easier.

okay, tho' i'm thinking that they won't be too pleased at me asking about a scooter at a car repairs place. =L, i might end up trying to drill it myself. =/

if its not too rounded you can try to put a slightly larger allen key in there but i mean unless you have acess to a special punch and driver , drilling is going to be the best way. be careful though but drilling should be easier since it is an allen key. or if its on a razor you could use a small hacksaw to saw it apart , you will destroy a spacer though and will have to be exremely careful

if you go to highschool or have a friend at an auto place ask them as in the school autoshop
like ive removed many bolts during shop class
and welded my new forks there :)

Thanks, yeah we're going to try another bike shop first, then maybe an auto mechanics. and if They can't do it i'll either wait and see if i get another deck and use them on that or drill it. Thanks. =/
