Brake spring on phoenix?

How can I put a fakey brake on my phoenix deck? I have the spring but there is no hole so I am confused

well id think id just take a 1x1.5in piece of metal, and bend the wide parts down so its 1x1in. then drill the holes in the right spots and poof. i guess
