Brake weld

Alright as long as I've been riding I don't think I have ever used the brake for anything except a place to put my back foot. I don't use it for manuals and all it does is slow me down. I have already ripped off the brake pad so it won't slow down as much when I put pressure on the brake. But I was riding a few days ago and I noticed that a lot of BMX riders don't have brakes on their bikes, granted they can't Fufanu now but who gives a shit. So it got me to thinking I could do the same except weld my brake open so I can just use it for foot placement and it won't touch my wheel at all.

Good idea or bad idea?

it might be a bad idea, you need it for tire-taps,and besides,a brake weld will never hold, try bolting it first incase you think you might have made a mistake. :)

Ok, thanks man. I'm new to scootering still so I didn't know if there was a reason why no one has done this before.

I would no long be able to tire tap or pivot out of fakie on the brake and that's all I can see that I would no longer be able to do.

Hey man.

I've been thinking about that too!

I was going to buy some aluminum sheet metal and welding it onto my deck.

I really hate the break because i always land on it and its really annoying.

So yeah man. I'm with you on this ;)

well i was gonna do that except i am going 2 make a brake gaurd. take the break off and make a steel gaurd of like a square shape where the break was.. bc i personally hate breaks 2 but i am trying 2 find out whats the strongest way and how can i make it without hurting my feet when i land on it.

yeah, try it. it would help with doing tricks to fakie as well, 'cus I always hit my brake doing that and fall back.

Don't listen to Ian, he probably hasn't tried, therefor he doesn't know what he's talking about.
If you want to make a hardtail, try welding the break to the deck and see how it performs, and give your review.

I own SR.
There was just a thread on this like 2 weeks ago. It is called a hardtail fender. It is possible if done right and it works but it takes some getting used to. Makes fakies awesome.

I'll have to check that out then.

I'm gonna try my hand at it.
