breaking in wheels

I here a lot of people talking about breaking in wheels. Is it neccesary? If so how do i do it. Also what will happen if i dont attempt to break them in and just keep doing the same tricks.

some people dont brake in wheels i do just because i want to get as much life out of thenm as possibal
