Broken brake spring?

So I broke my brake spring yesterday and I don't have any spares, is there something I can improvise into a spring so that I don't have to go brakeless? I hate brakeless.

just buy a new one and ride brake less until it comes.

go to toys r us/walmart/target ect... where they have kids scooters on display and teef it off one of those. (I assume were talking about the standard brake spring).
