so there still is not an awnser as o why they arent solid. because if i buy another one ( my 3rd one) and it breaks right on the weld like BOTH of my other forks. then wtf i dont get the point of having a indestructable fork when it is still fully destructable in like 1 and a half month. Andrew please give me an awnser as to why you do this because it is preventing me from buying another fork. i dont know if its the way i ride or if i get defected forks but i really really really want to have a fork i can ride for longer than 2 months. please post back.
If I were you I would take your V2 to a welding shop and ask them to realign the fork tube and tig weld it flush so the crown race slides over without any grinding. Probably leave a crown race with them to test it. A good shop could do that in probably 10 minutes and about $10. Then see how that works for you. I know a few other people on here have already done that. Otherwise if you are still interested in a v2.2 I would just wait to hear reviews when people start riding them to ease your mind about buying a 3rd pair.

i dont know because i do like the forks i was just wandering why you do weld 2 pieces i am just extremely curious as to why you do it.

the old ones i ride arn't welded like that, why are the new ones?
ALL (v1, v2 and v2.2) have 2-piece forktubes.

2 questions then

1. why?
2. mine are not like that, what do i have?

Because the weld on the older forks was grinded off so the bearing race could slip down over. The new method of welding is flush enough that it doesnt get in the way. Also, if my understanding is correct, the reason it is two pieces is because of the little lip that the bearing race slips onto is machined, and it would be way too much work to make that one solid piece, so machining one little piece of tubing and welding on the rest is much more effective. Don't take that to heart though, I'm probably REALLY wrong.

Sounds like a V1. You can't really tell from the outside, but if you look into the fork tube you can see the spot there welded at and feel it with your finger.
