Camera options?

I have been really looking into getting a CHEAP but still decent quality camera. I looked through the "What camera should I get" thread and saw the Panasonic GS series and found one that was rather cheap and nice. Only thing I noticed was that it uses tapes. My question is, is it hard to transfer footage on tape to a computer? and also, is it even worth buying a camera that requires tapes?

Also wanted to know of there was a major difference between the Panasonic PV-GS300 and the 320? They look almost identical and are the same price basically. Help please
