ok so here's what's doing on.I bought a Canon FS100 Camcorder and a Raynox Fisheye, i tested the camera video quality by uploading a raw video file onto youtube, the quality was pretty exceptional. But ever since I have edited vids, people have noticed and I've noticed that the quality once the video has been edited is BALLS!

here the video quality as a raw file: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKxkSPCR0Qw

and here's the quality of a edited file: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKRMlMAgs8M

I have to edit videos with Windows Movie Maker because I have nothing else to edit with. The output format for the camcorders files are ".MOD", I do not convert any of my files before they go into WMM, they just go straight in as ".MOD".I'm just disappointed as you expect after paying almost 350 bucks, to get a decent, good quality camcorder. If you search any footage from the sam camcorder model on youtube, you'll probably find alot better quality videos.

so do you think it's the format that goes into WMM? is it the rubbish video editing software?

thanks!

I got myself banned.
Export as DV AVI in movie maker and compress with a different program. Or just find a way to get different editing software that supports .mod files.

Anything that is recorded to flash/harddrive is pretty low on the totem pole for editing support without conversion. Seriously peoples, stick to mini dv unless you can afford high end equipment. This is soccer mom stuff!
