is it a good starter camera? im getting it for christmas and i wanna know if its any good.

Well first off, if you plan on just getting that then have fun not taking pictures. Its just the body, no lens.

Secondly, yes it would be a good starter, but so would any other camera for that matter.

will i need to buy a memory card or is that just something i need for extra memory?
like does it have an amount of space i could use for pictures already on the camera?

If you didnt know that a Digital SLR cannot take pictures without a lens, i would recommend starting off with an easier to use camera.

Get a 10D and a 50mm lens and start learning. Clearly you need to study and practice with an SLR. The 10D is in my opinion the best starting camera for people who want to learn about manual control over an image.
