I've ridden a chromoly deck. Shittiest thing ever made.
That thing was also based off the specs of an ultra pro, right? That's the problem lol
I've ridden a chromoly deck. Shittiest thing ever made.
that is why i think a company should make a steel deck, only if there was a good enough idea, i think they should because there would be a lot less wear
I'm fairly sure ulminium is stronger weight for weight than steel meaning that to have a chromo deck on similar size would mean that it would weigh a lot more.
On the other hand a really chunky carbonfibre deck seems legit, at 4 times the strength of steel weight for weight that could be cool except cost might be high.
They are SOME aluminum alloys that are Stronger than SOME steel.
You have it backwards- in a general statement using 6061 T6 aluminum vs. 4130, the Aluminum would have to be 3x as thick as the 4130 (Chromo) to equal in Strength.
We already have pretty thin walled Extrusion decks and to equal the weight of an Aluminum deck using 4130 the wall thickness would be way too thin, probably not even available.
If you use the same Thickness using steel, the deck is going to be heavier.
Bike Frames use Tubing that is Thin in the middle but thicker at the end so there is enough meat to weld or Braze the joints together.
no, no, and no
I'm pretty sure Vertx OMG decks are7075 and heat treated.
really? i thought that 7075 was used in some bike frames which are welded and certain pegs for scooters, i am not expert but i thought that was the case .There is no possible way they could be made from 7075 aluminum...just the block of 7075 needed to make one deck plate would cost at least several hundred dollars, if not a lot more.
I'm sure they are made from 6061-T6 at very best.... and the aluminum comes already heat treated. They are not welded, so there is no need for any additional heat treating (post weld heat treating).
7075 aluminum is a HUGE big step up from 6061. 7075 is amazing stuff...so strong...so expensive.
I would love to have a scooter deck made from 7075 it would be the sickest deck ever..and most expensive. lol
7075 is not weldable so it would have to be a 2 piece (bolt together) deck, but I would pay the extra price if a company would make one
Probably never happen.
