clarification

I'm going to make some one piece bars. I already know of a welder that can do it in my city, but i need to get some things straight first before i buy the pipe.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

I need 4130 alloy pipe.

Steer tube must be 1.125 inches ID

Crossbar must be 7/8 inch OD

And another question... How do I scallop the top of the steer tube so that the crossbar fits in the notch? If the steertube is 1.5" OD and the crossbar is 7/8" OD, how are they supposed to be flush at the weld?

Please help.

Drill a 7/8ths hole at the top of the steertube, then cut that hole in half. You will have a nice and perfect slot for your crossbar.

The way I drew would be notching it, Its way easier to get it right and it turns out perfect. I think thats how Madis does his Wees...

if i used aluminum instead will the hole you drill and OD ID measurements be the same

also would there be balancing issues if i did the whole bars in aluminum versus the steertube in aluminum and crossbar 4130 becasue im worried with an sr fork on my scoot and aluminum crossbar i wouldnt have enough leverage or whatever to whip good

haha i thought of that yesturday yeah 4130 is steel and steel and aluminum dont go together

are the measurements that same though

and i could do all aluminum but would there be weight balance issues and i say that cause i would have a heavy deck and fork and the bars would be light

also i could get a clamp like the buff bars have but i dont know where to get one

yea you still need 1.125 id and .875 id, but youre gonna want the tube to be about an eighth inch thick since aluminum isnt as strong.
