Compression Systems

This is the only part of a scooter that i don't fully understand.

Don't say shit like "Omg wtf n00b go s34rch 1di0t".
I did. Nothing that related to me came up.

So you have a starnut and you put it in your fork/bars and tighten it and it grips on your bars/fork and hugs it to the walls?

Explllllaaainnn please :)

nah, you put the starnut in your fork for scs, for inverted compression, i.e the one chester posted a link to, you put the starnut in the bars

Inverted is cheaper, yet if you strip the starnut you are fucked. It also is lighter because you don't have that huge SCS quad clamp on your bars.

Inverted Compression System:
Hammer a 1 1/4 starnut into your bars, the starnut should be upside down, so the black "stars" are facing downward.

Then, put your bars over your fork.

Insert the M6 bolt (get from SR store) through the bottom of your threadless fork and thread it into the starnut which is in your bars.

tighten the bolt until your headset is secure.

Then proceed with tightening your clamp.

Go ride

Standard compression system:

Heavy, overly expensive.

Looks cool though.

ok heres the low down

if your gonna ride threadless headset and fork without a compression, your scoots gonna wobble like a penguin running from a poacher

all a compression does is holds your bars and fork really snug so your scooter feels more solid and alot stronger

There's no way of getting it out?

Isn't it a 1 1/8 starnut?

And how, i thought the bolt goes too far up the forks.. what do you tighten it with? Or do you twist your bars around it like it was threaded?

Oh and how does HIC work?

You are so confused man. Just relax, it's so simple.

Get a 1 1/4 starnut.
Put it in your bars like 3 inches.
Slide your bars over your THREADLESS forks.
Put the bolt throught the bottom of your forks, through the bars until you feel it hit the starnut.
Then screw the bolt in.
Tighten your clamp, and have a wonderful day.

(Also, bring it to a bike shop if you can't do it yourself. They will know what to do.)

1 1/4" for one peice/buff/mgp etc bars

1 1/8" for stock bars, like razor stems

The SCS isn't that heavy at all, hell it weighs almost the same as a half full can of soda haha

But I agree, if finances are an issue, ICS would be your best option.

And they pull the bars down onto your headset, not pushes your fork against your bar walls.

edit: read above posters^

im pretty much riding threadless right now without a compression system, with a threadless headset. cause these 125 aw forks dont grip my bars cause they suck and i have chromo bars so i just use 1 pro model double clamp 1 old a clamp and 1 new a clamp and its tight as a mofo or just 2 pro modle clamps would do it lol. so no you dont need a compression
