Creaking Headset

I haven't been on SR in ages, but I've been having this issue forever and finally need to fix this, and could use some suggestions. I'm still riding an old TSI FMII, integrated, with a Fly headset. Whenever you pull back on the bars, the headset creaks. It's been like that for ages. But now, whenever I turn the bars around 45 degrees in either direction it creaks and pops and you can feel it in the bars, but only when I'm not on the scooter. It still spins smooth, and I know the crown race is on straight. I'm certain the headset isn't too tight as the bars will spin 3 or 4 times when you just spin them. Would greasing everything help, or is my headset just on its way out? Any help would be appreciated.

sounds like maybe Your headsets bearing is broken. Take out the headset and shake it around if there is some clacking your headset is broken and you need another one . also if you have HIC might be somthing else..

Just sounds old, man. You could get by just packing it with grease, but your best bet is getting a new one. I usually trash a nice headset every 8 months or so. I don't ride a whole lot, but I ride hard.

Yeah, I'm running HIC. The creaking when I pull on the bars has always been there and has never been a real issue other than being annoying. But, the new creaking/popping when I turn it started yesterday after a long sesh. I'm going to take it all apart later and see if the bearings are sloppy or making noise out of the head tube.

Took it all apart, bearings aren't making any noises or anything, but do feel a little rough in a few spots when I turn them. Cleaned out all the dirt that built up, so far, issue seems fixed, if after a sesh it happens again I'll replace it. Thanks for the help guys.

The fork tube isn't bent, but the noise only happened within 45 degrees in either direction of straight forward.

my headset was slow and creaked so i took the the rubber seal off and sprayed some wd40 in there and instantly it was smoother and faster;and then i didnt have any grease so i put olive oil in there and its been working perfectly for about 6 months :D

olive oil as bearing grease is just about as good as ketchup for condom lube

wd-40 will destroy ur bearings if u dont clean it out n regrease it NEVER USE WD-40 AS A LUBE FORANY BEARINGS WILL DESTROY THEM
