Deck design

Id rather have a heavy deck that wont break then a deck that is very light that will snap/bend.
thick aluminium decks wont snap if you havnt noticed pro model decks are really thin
chromoly or any other steel is retardedly heavy as a deck and would hold you back so mo because of that
with a good design an aluminium deck can be unbreakable, and the proto deck is aluminium btw

true, i believe things like forks shud be made of steel
but not decks, look at how thin and simple the design is for pro decks, and they hold up ok
so making a strong aluminium deck is pretty easy, with right amount of metal and design
the main problem we will face is the headtube area.

i think every part should but aluminium except for maybe headset cups, threadless aluminium forks are fine, look at french id forks, especially if they are thicker, but decks deffinetly shouldnt be made of steel because to make it thin enough to counteract the weight might make it bend, thicker aluminium is tottally prime, and you should listen to rob seeing as he has made a couple decks and absolutely knows whats hes talkin about

this one i designed but im not building it anymore

u get a square deck like micro xt, and have half the headtube coming out of the deck and another half on the headtube then u have a piece of metal holding them together probalbly hard to understand but i reckon itd work

I really do agree with making it out of aluminum. The new 08 pro models have such thinnnnnn aluminum walls, and it still lasts pretty long. But an example of thicker walls is, I tend to crack and snap a lot of decks (as im sure many people do) and i put aluminum scooter reinforcements, and its really have a difficult time breaking.... however the foldy mech or headtube will rip off and break one day.... and thats where you really need to work at. Despite headtubes and foldy plates being pretty easy to replace, who wants to go through all the hastle and the eating of shit

Why would he make it out of aluminum? It will snap/bend....

alu is strong aslong as the design is good. chromoly is stronger. but wayyy to heavy

make it out of 2024 aluminum. and make the sides at least 1/4 thick [.25mm] and make the head tube with gussets and the neck tube super thick

i used aluminum for my deck and it is still really good but it is really heavy
You've got no idea what your talking about if you think aluminium is heavy.

that isnt 100% true, my scooter has all alloy on it execpt the steel forks & few bolts here & there, it weights over 7kg

it weights more then sum locals BMX bikes yet its hell nice to ride feels light in the air to even younger riders
