I'm looking for some people who would be interested in working with me to put together the first VA scooter comp. Why VA? Cause there's a growing scooter scene here. The purpose of the comp would be to meet new riders and have a good session at a park. I think this would impact the growth of the sport here in VA. I'm looking at having a low entry fee, if any fee at all, and some sort of prize. I'm thinking it would be a small comp but everyone would be invited. The bigger the turnout the better!

MORE INFO:
I'm looking at having the comp this spring or summer. It'd be nice to have food and music. I think a lot of people who don't scooter would show (skateboaders, girls, other).

As far as skateparks, we have some good options, although we're not as privileged as a lot of you. Search(YouTube) these VA parks:

South Riding (new, small, concrete street plaza park)
South Riding, VA

Duke Street (lots of ramps, so many lines)
Alexandria, VA

Front Royal (concrete park with everything)
Front Royal, VA

Gotta get people interested first. So far I'm the only one willing to put something together.

Who is interested in entering this event? Anybody interested in sponsoring?

Zero Gravity will throw down some prizes for the event. We give one of our new decks and some clothing. Lets do this thing brother!

Yeah Joey we would need to call the park and get things situated.

I know. First I need to make sure we get the support we need before we make an official date. Also, I'm 17 and I'm not sure if they would let me rent the park out....

Yeah I could get Sky-High to sponsor this. It doesn't matter your age though.
Just show them the best videos out now so they can see how legit scootering
is. You could also show them videos of other comps and show them SR.
Unfortunately in VA a lot of the skatepark owners don't know about scootering.

We could maybe get a comp at Arlington skatepark, they hold skate comps
there a lot. Front Royal, Anti Gravity, or Duke Street would be the only other
options. Call them all up Joey or e-mail them. Don't let age effect anything....

I just emailed Anti-Gravity. I told a bit of history about the sport, related it
to bmx & skateboarding, showed them videos and companies. I hope this
works out, the scooter scene in Va is growing and this would make it 10x better!

I want to hold the competition at Front Royal if its finished in time. It was suppose to be finished by Dec. '09 and its almost done. If they don't approve, I think I'll go for Arlington. Maybe we could do a street and bowl comp there. I'll probably give you a call this weekend Jon.

Does everybody get the same week off for spring break? I know a lot of schools were closed for many days because of the snow.

If Anti-Gravity likes the idea I'd like to have it there though Joey. I doubt Front Royal will
be done anytime soon. Arlington would be the other choice......

I don't want Anti Gravity to make everyone wear full pads and sign a wavier. Also, my friend Imoh went there and he said that its not that good and I'm choosing a northern VA park.

Okay Joey do what you want but if Anti-Gravity does this I'm going to still follow through
with it. The comps would be spread apart though. I'll have Sky-High sponsor this. Good
luck Joey.

Here's the deal guys. I'm going to see if we can throw down a comp at the Powhatan Springs skatepark in Arlington, VA. They have a big bowl and the other half of the park is street, with a 10 stair handrail and 2 hubbas. They also have a three block. I'm going to try to schedule a bowl & street comp. This park has a good spectator view and amenities. This location has hotels, restaurants, shopping, etc. The skateboard comps here are HUGE turnouts! YouTube the Convoy Skateboards 10 stair challenge video.
