Ok so your bars are wobbly because they aren't quite as thick as the stock bars you get with your clamp. You can buy a shim for about $5 Aus but why do that when you can make one for free out of stuff that everyone uses at home.
Keep in mind that your bars may not be wobbly because of your clamp but because your headset is loose or that your locked folding mech isnt tightened regularly. Make sure it is none of two before trying this otherwise it will be a waste of time.
So some of the tools you will need are:
Soda Can, Your clamp, Permanant Marker, Scissors, and some glue (optional)
*1. The first thing you want to do is punch a hole near the edge of the can with your scissors. Be careful not to bend the can in otherwise it will be a bit harder to get in your clamp.
*2. Now what you want to do is cut the lid of the can so you have your hollow can. Be careful not to bend the can again.
*3. Get your permanant marker and your clamp and line the clamp up with the edge of your cut edge and mark a line so you know how wide to cut the can. Feel free to draw a line all the way around if you feel you cant cut straight.
*4. Cut from the edge of the can into the line you have drawn with your marker. Cut it out over the line because it helps to cut on the line so it is more accurate.
*5. Now cut around the whole can so it is the same width as your clamp. Try and be careful not to cut yourself or damage the can.
*6. Curl up the can you cut into a circle that will fit into your clamp. You may want to super glue it if you want it to hold. Push it in to see if it fits, if not curl it up more or uncurl it a bit.
Once it is in you hardly wont be able to notice it.
*7. This is probably the most fustrating and annoying part of this tutorial. You want to be able to fit your clamp on your bars without it being loose or too tight. If it is too loose when you tighten it up. Cut some pieces of the can up and fill in the gaps of your clamp. If its too tight try uncurling it and cutting a bit off of it until it fits.
8. Now unloosen your clamp off your bars and put it on your fork. You may have to pull apart your shim and put it back together but now you know if it fits snugly or not, so it wont be as much of a hassle. Screw your bars on and your ready to ride. Make sure you have tightened your screws up as tight as you can. If your bars are still loose repeat step 7. If that still doesnt work check if your headset or folding mech bolts are loose.
Thankyou and i hope you will be able to make your own shim at home.
