Do french id forks need the star nut thing?

I ride a FrenchID fork with a FrenchID clamp and FrenchID bars with out a compression system!
I'm riding it for almost 3 months now.
It's wierd but it works!
But if you want to be 100% sure that the fork and bars stay on there place just use a compression system.
