DRIVING

Tommy Napolitan

Errrhhmmmm
passed everything first try. was never really stoked about it. i only drove about 15 times with my permit. now that i can drive by myself it's more fun. no parents telling you to do whatever and you can go wherever whenever basically.

Passed online test with one question wrong, passed driving test but failed reverse driving for not looking behind me (i used my mirrors).

OH.
MAKE SURE to bring like every form of ID you have. Fuck. They sent me back to my house twice for not having all 6 points or something, sucked hard

When I was younger I was all stoked about getting my license when I turned 16, but kinda got discouraged eventually by my late birthday because everyone started getting their licenses before I could, so I just kinda lost interest. So pretty much I put it off until the beginning of this past summer, which is something you don't want to do - get your license right off the bat and practice hella so you get more confident with it. So now I have to wait another 6 months basically before I can get my G2 permit (which is basically like the second level learner permit here which means you can drive by yourself without having an instructor or someone with their full license in the car with you), and then another year after that to get my full license, which sucks because I'm in uni right now and having a car for stuff would be nice.

Oh and a word of advice, if you're learning how to drive stick and you kick your car into neutral at a long ass red light so you can take your foot off the clutch, ESPECIALLY if you're on a slight hill, remember to put it back into gear before the light turns green, I almost rolled back into some guy's mercedes at an intersection doing that hahaha

i got my permit 2nd try.
passed driver's ed easily enough.
i've been 16 for almost a year and still haven't gone to get my license. i've driven like 3 hours and just don't care. i have to take the driving test too, i know i'd be super nervous during that.

2005 saturn Vue, 6,000 miles for 6,000 dollars.
Damn thats a steal, its a Saturn... but its a steal.

NOOOOOOO!! Mr. Ogle I fucking LOVE saturn vue's, but in all seriousness, every single person i've talked to about them says that the transmissions are garbage. people get to like 60k miles with those things and have to put 2-3 transmissions in by then. Seriously dude, my cousin is a mechanic and my boss at the campground were both like dead-serious DON'T get one of those haha. If i were you i'd seriously look into trading it haha.

but other than that, i really do love those, i was like on the verge of buying one a month ago, 2004, 45k miles, only like 5000, so perfect. Till i heard that... ugh.

Right now I'm looking at a 2003 pontiac vibe (toyota matrix with the "pontiac" stamped over it) wtih 68k miles on it, for only $6900. only problem is it's over 4 hours away driving from me, so I'm having my cousin check it out since he lives in the area. hopefully all is well, i need a new fucking car.

and about this thread, i got my permit first try, license first try, and i was the only sophomore in my school that drove every day and had his own car. it pays to have a job and buy the shit you want. just sayinn.

33mpg highway... toyota built... last for at least 150k miles. Reliable, good gas mileage, and not something like a boring car. vibe's you either love them or hate them i've noticed haha. no one is like "eh they're ok"

Car license I wasn't super excited. It's just a cage on 4 wheels. Motorcycle I was super stoked cause I could finally ride on streets without hassle.

Private Pilot's License I was super happy cause I could take any single engine land plane I wanted and go have fun plus it was sucha bitch plotting cross countries by hand instead of a GPS. Instrument rating for flying I was really excited cause it took a year (FUCK YOU ILS APPROACHES) to do and now I can fly through clouds. Working on commercial now. Can't wait to get to multi engine.

Boat license I was just happy to get out of the class. Lmao.

On a side note, I feel bad you England dudes. I was reading about the shit you have to go through to get your license and I was looking at the new regulations that are up for passing ATM and I added up the numbers and by 2012 if the driving regs get passed it'll be cheaper for you guys to learn how to fly then to drive. Maybe I'll pass some of you guys in the air someday. :]

Well, it should last for a while. I am using it only for college purposes and maybe for a bit after i start working. I figure after 50k miles later i can easily sell it back for 1/2 the price i bought it..or more. It was a good investment i think other than gas mileage (getting around 30mpg on highway : /). Ive still got to pay 300 dollars off and than im done :).

And Josh- get your damn license. A car is mandatory for every reason in the world haha. ESPECIALLY riding!

and Dibbs- what is the gas mileage on that car?
