Dvd onto comp

i just got a dvd cam (parents gave it to me they got a new one) and i am wondering how to put the video files onto my computer
i have a av tuner in my room somewhere would that work or could i finalize the dvd and get the video files off the actual dvd itself

idk hom much help i can be cause idk much about dvds in general but...

im thinking your gonna have to check the drive on your comp to see if its dvd+/-ram compatible and if it is it should work without being finalized since (if my thoughts are correct) the camera doesnt actually record the videos to the cd, it writes them as compressed video files.

p.s. i could be wrong about any of this
 
There is firewire, but you can't capture like normal tape because it's compressed in some mpeg2 format. Use the software that came with the camera, it's the only way.

i dont have the soft ware :(
im using my old camera as a cap cam via svideo and then
transfering that via firewire

its a bitch
