Most of you know i havent ridin in about 2 or so years and even when i did i was shit.
but no video has made me wanted to start riding more than this one. If any of you have seen the documentary Dogtown and the Z Boys you would know exactly what slump/crash he's talking about.
That crash for skateboarding went like this,
Skateboards came out and were a big hit, everyone had to have one. But this was just another passing fad just like everything else at the time, soon there would be another fad to come around and replace it and rightfully so it happened. The only people who kept riding were the hard core enthusiasts who were forced to make there own boards and had no backing what so ever by anyone really, but it wasnt about the money or the popularity so they kept on riding because they truly loved riding. Soon enough people started to notice it and parts started to come out and it started to gain ground again but this time with a more promising future, thus bringing it to what it is now.
As for scootering i don't know what the future of it holds, as for i think they crash already happened, if anyone remembers when razor first dropped the model a everyone got it for christmas or what not because it was the new thing, the new toy, and the new fad. Hell my family bought four of them and we rode them around all of the time, few took it to the next level of doing tricks and riding parks and that following didnt have much backing and was a slow grower because the scooter died out come the early/mid 2000's and you didnt see too many people buying and riding them that much at all anymore. But recently (like 08-current) they've picked up alot more when it comes to the freestyle aspect and its becoming a more legit thing as its starting to be seen more by the public and standard citizen of what they are really capable of and that there are parts that can be produced and so forth.
so as for a crash or a slump i really don't know if thats in our future, maybe im wrong and it hasnt really happened yet but either way im stoked to see what the future holds for the sport, and this has really made me want to get back into it if the crash is really in our future, we'll need all the riders and support we can to stay afloat.
