Cut it down less so that the bottom of the deck doesn't get touched. I cut mine down about the same as his is and it robbed it of some smith space. This time I just trimmed it a little less.

This should give you some idea... Just cut the sides that sticks out at angle so the cut stops where deck "box" starts.
